How to fix the “Value of the property ‘type’ cannot be parsed” error

This error happens when there is a corrupt VSTO file already present in your system, possibly from another Outlook plugin.

To allow the Outlook installation you will need to delete this file. Note - You may want to keep a backup copy of the file for future needs.

Steps

Open Windows Explorer
Visit the exact file path described in your error message (e.g. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VSTO\10.0
Locate the file named VSTOInstaller.exe.Config
Delete this file
Now you will be able to install the plugin
